Hi everyone!

I'm a minimalist, and own a Bighorn Arms TL3 Short Action, but see future me wanting to try long action ammunition like 300PRC and 6.5-300 Weatherby. This might sound like a stupid question.. But can a Bighorn Arms TL3 long action run short action ammunition like the 6.5SAUM?

This is also another stupid question, will .338 LM and .375 Cheytac work in a long action? Or is it some kind of longer action?

Would the longer magazines work fine?

Thanks in advance!

Yes on the first and I believe no on the second. Plenty of people have built dedicated PRC rifles on long actions so they don’t have to worry about OAL restrictions.

Thanks for the reply! I get that a lot of people have dedicated rifles, but honestly, I'm really somewhat of a minimalist. If I can just have one TL3, and change bolt faces, and barrels between .308, 6.5CM, 6.5 SAUM, and then 6.5-300 Weatherby Magnum and 300PRC then I'd be delighted! I could change the barrels and bolt faces myself, and not need a gunsmith to do it. All I need is the parts as I change between stocks, barrels, and bolt faces lol.

That sounds ideal for my needs.

I think it will work fine for you. Only reason I mentioned people building dedicated long actions around the cartridges was to distinguish that some people are specifically seeking long actions for rifles in those calibers versus a multiple use rifle, indicating that it works just fine and has some advantages.
