All,

I am interested in getting a Cadex Field Tactical for my Bighorn TL3 and it seems they don't play nice with Cadex chassis'. I see PVA offers a service to modify the Bighorn Actions to fit the Cadex systems, but it doesn't go into detail on what this entails. I also don't see it listed as a stand alone service and only available as an option when you purchase a Bighorn through them.

Does anyone have any experience with this combination and what work is required? I don't want to get into $300 of gunsmith/mill work.

Thanks

Might be worth contacting BigHorn about this, they may do the action work for less to get it to run in your desired chassis system.

Do you know what exactly needs modified?

@longshot2000 seemed to think the Bighorn sat too tall for Cadex rail system and recommended one with out the top rail (Competition models), but didn’t seem certain since Cadex has a difficult time getting the American clones in CA due to ITAR.

@BigHorn / ZAI Team can you guys shed any light?

I don't have a clue. I have no experience with Cadex anything, I wish I could help you out more. I would assume BigHorn is aware of this issue and could help get it resolved.

My buddy has a TL3 in a Cadex Comp lite and I believe the chassis just needed to be milled out for the tang on the TL3. There may be some minor additional work for the bolt handle and I don't recall much else.

Recoil lug needs notched, tang needs reduced slightly and scope base needs shortened for the TL3 and lite strike combo to work.

Thanks for the info! I’m a little confused...why would the scope base need shortened as it would be removed from the action and the Lite Strike integral rail would bolt on top in its place. Or am I mistaken?

Some work, some don't work well and some don't work at all. I'm not certain of all the modifications that need to be done to make it fit. PVA has always had the best insight when it comes to making it work.

Any chassis that is made for a Remington 700 and has an integral rail that overhangs the action won't mate with our actions. 700's have a bridge at the rear that is flat. All of our actions (like most 700 footprint aftermarket actions) are truly round and will not mate with the rear of the integral rails on chassis'.

On another note, if it were me (biased opinion), I would modify the chassis to work with my action not the other way around. But I'm sure stock and chassis manufacturers would say the opposite.

Thanks - Ray

Well shit lol. I really wanted to use a Lite Strike, Dual Strike, or Field Tactical and they all have the integral rail that bolts to the top of the action. Guess that's off the table. Thanks for the clarification.

That was in reference to a different chassis model. I lack experience with the strike chassis to be helpful but the lite competitions are nice and don’t require too much work to make work with the TL3.
