Bought this TL3 when they first came out. I think this is the 3rd? maybe forth chassis/stock. Magpul 700 Pro. had to bevel the end of the action/recoil edge since it was machined sharp 90 degrees. Didn't notice this at first but sure noticed it with a vertical spread at 500yds that I wasn't expecting. Lower and far left bullet hole was already there. Forgot staples so used existing targets.

You can see on the bottom of the action where the contact mark was thinner toward the lug as it wasn't sitting flat because of the radius between action and lug.

Is the tl3 and upgrade from the origin is it smoother and bolt lift lighter and smoother? I know it’s hard to say it’s smoother. Just wondering I had an origin and sold it to get a tl3 dlc

i went origin to tl3 back to all origins

having a rimx i prefer the swept bolt handle

other than that i don't feel much difference. bolt lift, smoothness are the same imho

I went from an origin to TL3 for a new build I did a couple years ago and there are some slight differences that make the tl nicer but unless you’re running them back to back you won’t really notice. If you plan on swapping barrels a lot the integral recoil lug is nice for that, the straight bolt handle does change the feel a little bit but that’s a personal thing.

Now I’m in the process of building out a RimX and wish they offered that with a straight handle option to match up with the tl but that’s just personal preference.

There is a slight difference in cocking effort due to different angles, but it is small. The bigger difference is swept vs straight bolt handles, integral lug, and AW mag options on the TL3. Both are great actions.

So there isn’t really a difference thanks for all the replies guess I should’ve kept my origin lol

Put this together a year ago and just got around to shooting it. Wanted a 12-14 lb 223 trainer with option to get weight under 10 lbs w/carbon barrel for hunting. 223 is 12.2 lbs and with the proof is about 9.5 lbs.

All I had loaded in 223 was some blasting loads for my AR (mixed LC, XBR, 75 BTHP, 2.26 coal). Not bad considering. Going to fireform some Lapua with ELDs and see what she can do.

Bad news is I like it more than my custom M70 and SRS so will probably be picking up a 7 SAUM barrel for it soon and maybe a LA for a 300 PRC fml it never ends.

In Hornady brass with 75 ELD-Ms at .020" off lands in .223 Wylde with 24.5grns of XBR 8208. In my TL3 with Proof 7 twist prefit done by PVA. Rifle is so fun to shoot. 5 shots at 100. Have shot it to 1150 yards.

I havent been able to find any 8208….

Having decent luck with TAC though.

Varget was no good at all, at .310 for 5 shots. 😁

Yeah 8208 is tough to find. Been looking myself for at least 8 pounds. I had a pound and got three pounds from a friend and all were different lots. I mixed them all and it seemed to work. Lol. I have a Varget load that works great too but much easier to throw 8208 powder charges.

I keep my eyes out, but with a dialed TAC load and 15 lbs on hand, Im not sure I need it…..

Workin on a new .223 tube comin for my Origin, but have A LOT of Varget too.

Just razzin ya Reubinski

Any chance you can make the fundraiser match next Sat, May 7?

Organized and put on by D Tros.
Fundraiser for a Hide guy with medical stuff.

I ordered a TL3 in early December and received about a month ago. Ray did say they were having issues with material supplies.

Ordered my tl3 directly from Zermatt in December. Going on 7 months wait now :(. Has anyone received their tl3 recently?
We started shipping them again this week. We've got more out at our DLC facility right now and another batch of DLC coated receivers going this week and that will continue over the next couple of weeks.

Like has been said previously, we've been battling a material supply issue. We've got our most recently received blanks almost complete and another significant amount of blanks returning in early July for processing. We are hoping we'll be on track to our initial quoted ship dates by the end of August.

We've been pushing everything through as fast as we can given the situation we've been in. It sucks for a lot of people and we don't like being late either.

If you want a clearer picture, please email me directly ([email protected]) and I'll figure out where you are exactly and find a window for delivery based on that information.

We're all very sorry for every delay but appreciate the general understanding you've all given us.

Thank you - Ray

Thanks for the honest feedback! That's why you guys are the best in the business!

Here's mine! Phoenix Custom Rifles Bighorn TL3 .308 with a 22" .308 1:10 twist Proof Research Carbon Fiber. Area 419 Hellfire, Grayboe Renegade, Triggertech Diamond, Atlas PSR, Bushnell DMR 2 Pro, Seekins 34mm .92 rings, custom brown and black speckled Cerakote. It shoots 5 shot groups of 175SMKS with 43gr of Varget in the .2's if I do my part!

I’ve always liked that pig skid pad on simple builds

My TL3 has been through an ungodly amount of changes, but really happy with where its at now.

ooh...the A419 bolt knob replacement kit...you should write atutorial on how to do that mod. I am hesitantly tinkering about that move (remove the stock one the proper way)
