I have a couple of bolt guns that I would like to put bipods on. Savage 10 and 12; 308 and 223 with tactical stocks. Mainly to shoot steel and coyotes with. Which do you feel is better for those and why.

Thanks

For me, at least, the Harris 6-9, swivel and notched has done all I need it to do. I shoot from a bench and prone and found it has all the adjustment needed.
If you want the ultimate in utility then go with Atlas. It is twice(at least) the price of Harris though.

Re: bipod height? 6-9 9-13??

I have one of each. I use the 6-9 if I am shooting from a position that allows it, but sometimes, depending on the height of the grass in the pasture, etc., I need the 9-13 to get my sight line out of the grass.

If I were only going to have one, it would have to be the 9-13 as sometimes I need the extra height. Given that you plan to use this in the field, I would go with the 9-13 (unless you can afford both), JMHO.

+1 on the pod lock. I have one on both of mine.

The perfect height for me is dependent on mount and feet used, as i use a rail adapter n feet by cheese. Both contribute to overall height, end result is more like 8-14

Re: bipod height? 6-9 9-13??

I found that the leg length is dependant on the shooting position, terrain, and individual comfort. The leg length also affected my NPOA. I experimented with different lenghts and found a lower leg set up my NPOA more easily than other settings.
For bench a longer leg is more comfortable as my diaphragm is straighter. For prone shooting level ground, I like shorter legs allowing more body contact and stability. Up and down slope usually requires longer legs. Also must consider magazine length. Shorter mags allow for shorter legs.

Notched legs with pod lock are a must regardless of the leg length.

That said, I found the 6 - 9" bipod met the majority of my shooting situations. Whatever bipod you go with practice at different leg lengths for your best fit.

Good luck

I would say go with the 6-9 if you need more height you can set a pack or something else under it but if you need less then 9" on the 9-13 you will be without a tripod.
