Black Heart International

Re: Black Heart International

The smith that used to work at their Philippi WV shop, Lou, did very nice work. Shot a few of his rifles and they ran well and were finished very nicely. I had him do a bit of chambering work and threading/crowning on mine. He seemed to know his stuff and did a nice job.

I have not been there for a while now though, so I am not sure if he is still around. All my other dealings with them (a few suppressors and SBRs) have been fine. I had heard they were kinda going away from the bolt rifles (that was Lou's specialty), so that is kinda what I was thinking he may have left.

Prices on threadings/chamberings were fair when I had them done.

I have not gotten to play with any of their custom bolt guns, but I shot an ar15 and a couple Ak style rifles. Seemed nice.

Re: Black Heart International

Lou Patrick at BHI was one of my gunsmiths at the Army Marksmanship Unit. He and the others in the bolt action / International-Olympic Section are the top of the line anywhere in the United States.

Lou moved to West Virginia because his wife works for a federal law enforcement agency. If he's moved on I'll bet he opens a new shop there.

Re: Black Heart International

Cool info guys thank you. I was wondering because I get e-mail updates from them and the last e-mail was about their bolt action rifles. I thought I saw somewhere that they made actions as well?
