I have a Howa 1500 HCR in .308, which currently has about 600 rounds through it. Being as this is my first "precision rifle" i have never shot this many rounds through a bolt action before. Earlier, i had the rifle disassembled to adjust the trigger, and noticed some "strange" wear on the bolt and reciever camming surfaces. The bolt is even slightly mushroomed. My questions are
#1. Is this "normal" wear for a bolt action? Could it be bad heat treat or loose tolerances?
#2. If it is normal, at what point does the wear get so bad it affects primary extraction? What is the "lifespan"?
