My wife has developed an interest in shooting and she wants something larger than the ar-15 she's currently shooting. She likes semi auto since she doesn't break position between rounds but I would like to see her get a bolt gun since they are easier to shoot. I figure that I can teach her to cycle the bolt without breaking her cheek weld which is pretty much the only reason she wants a large platform AR. Which route do you guys think I should go?

You must be young and married. If you really love her you would buy her both. If she doesn't like one or the other its yours so choose wisely.
A large platform AR will kick significantly more than the 15's, if she's tough she could handle it but if she's petite it'll beat her up pretty good. My AR10 feels like it kicks harder than my bolt 308.. why, I have no idea
I have access to both setups and plan on having her try out both when it warms up, I'm just trying to get some other opinions. The reason this came up is she likes shooting my AIAE but saw a Black Rain .308 with the nickel receiver set and really liked it. I'm trying to help her make an educated decision versus what she thinks is pretty lol.
You're correct about the young and married part. I would love to buy her both but she has expensive taste and it's not in the budget.
