Bolt upgrade?

Hello,

I have a Remington 700 5R MilSpec .308. Is it possible (and or
recommended) to upgrade the bolt action for my rilfe. Or are
they all custom fitted at the factory?

I just swapped out my factory trigger for a Jewel. I was
just wondering if the same can be done for the bolt.

If so, what's recommended?

I'm not too sure what your expecting to gain by doing this, but if your looking to gain accuracy then you would have a gunsmith true your bolt and action with the barrel. They can also do work to your bolt to help it function faster and slide better in the action.

Yep.

Such as shooting the rifle or cycling it in front of the television a few hundred times.

Agree, you are wasting your money by swapping bolts. Get a new action if that is what you really want to do.

I would have a Smith true it up. Save you some coin v. a new action.

Well, if you are brave and can follow directions there is the walkthrough of a project on brownells. Really detailed write up, and gives you the tools you'll need just by clicking on the hyperlinks, though, I think first I'd spred some neverdull on the bolt lugs and cycle the rifle a few hundred times while watching tv.
