I would check with other Snipers Hide members. You may find somebody who wants to just do a one for one swap with you. It can save some machine time and money.

Just my .02

If it is a Remington 700, I have a few 473 bolts. Email me if you are interested: [email protected]

Re: Boltface modification???

Boltface can be opened up but I expect that you would be $ ahead to swap bolts or buy a new bolt. Also know that actions for .378 size cartridges are cut a little different underneath than .473 actions. This should not matter if you are running magazine fed, but if you go ADL/BDL you may have feeding issues. You may want to consider trading out the entire action with someone to avoid this. There is always someone wanting a .223.

Re: Boltface modification???

Thanks for all the information guys. I think I'll either have it built into a standard .223 or just sell it off and go with another Templar action. It's only $, right? ;>)

Speaking of that, with a spec Crusader and a custom .308 F-class build on a SS Templar already in the safe; will I ever be satisfied with a souped-up Remington? What's you guy's opinion?

Re: Boltface modification???

I have a souped up Remington as well as custom actioned rifles in the safe. I like some of the features of the customer actions better, but my Remington shoots lights out. When I go Prairie Dog hunting, my Remington action .243AI always comes out as it performs better. The only reason why I don't shoot it all the time is that the barrel life is very limited.

That being said, I will always build on custom actions in the future. I just like the features.
