Hi everyone. I'm shooting a 223 with varget powder, 7.5 rem primers, and a 77 Sierra match king. I'm planning on doing a ladder test at 500 yards with my loads. My question is should I do one ladder with my bullet close to the lands and one at book length. I'm not committed to any mag length. I just see alot of posts here about good accuracy at book length. I know I have to shoot and see, but what's everyone's thought, book or close to lands. Thanks.

If I'm not confined to a certain mag length I will actually start with the bullet into the lands. I use the same method as Cortina and let the rifling seat the bullet deeper and use that as a max length and once I do a powder test I work away from that length to try and find where it shoots the best
