I've always used a rod to clean my rifle after about every 1000 rounds (6 - 8 weeks). I'd like to get away from the rod and use a bore snake. However, most of the fouling is removed when I run a rod through with patches until they are clean, which you cannot do with a bore snake. So my question is, is a bore snake good enough, or will I still have to use the rod for patches? If I still have to use the rod, it kind of seems pointless...
