1 WEEK LEFT: This Target Haunts Me Contest
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Please see attached pictures. I have been having trouble with factory ammo and lapua brass with 212 gr and 230gr reloads chambering without getting stuck in the freebore. Any input is appreciated.
Copper fouling and carbon buildup/ring ... bad. Soak overnight in Bore Tech C4 Carbon Remover ... and then scrub the crap out of it. Repeat as necessary until the carbon is gone. Then go after the copper fouling with a good product, I use M-Pro-7 Copper remover but any of the quality products will do. You have a really ugly barrel there ... stop shooting until it's free of carbon and copper, and then take pictures to assess the barrel further.

300 prc with about 700 rounds through it. I originally had issues with this barrel due to a bad reamer and had to send it back. They used a new reamer and sent it back.
Used hoppes cleaner and butches bore shine. Scrubbed the heck out of it and these are the results. Not too happy with the results however bullets are able to reach the lands again with no problems. In the last photo there is what looks like a small crack that appeared in the freebore. Any opinions?

How many times did you use the bore shine? It may require quite a few passes but it does look like you are slowly starting to get it cleaned out. I’d keep cleaning. Only removing some of it means that it’ll become a problem again sooner than later.
