Hi, I recently got this stock in the blow pics, and am stumped on why the rear right receiver support, is mostly missing (milled out) ?
This is a Savage 12, top bolt release, short action centerfeed bbl. Bought it for a 12FV It seems, both sides should have equal support. With all the talk of beddding, torques, etc., I can't see how this is a good thing. The cheapo factory stock, didn't have uequal support, and I find no mechanisms on rifles receiver that would interfere with this area. Also, the Choate tactical right rear V block, isn't missing like this, it runs same length as the oposite side. Some thoughts or explanations on this would be appreciated, I hope all pics are ledgible, I had hard time posting them. Thanks

That is odd. Every Boyd's stock I bought for Savage cracked at the rear action screw area.

I don't own any Savage rifles anymore, and that action screw placement is one of the many reasons why.
