I might just be coping because I drive a Toyota.

I too drive a boring ass Toyota.

We currently have a couple of them: A trusty old 2007 Tundra 4X4 is my daily beater. We also have a 2024 Land Cruiser. Not exciting to drive but they’re robust, and easy to maintain.

My mom lives with us after my dad passed away, and she just traded her Lexus RX350 in on a 2025 Toyota Grand Highlander Platinum Hybrid Max. Same T24A-FTS 2.4L I4 turbo as the Land Cruiser although they have different hybrid systems. Again fairly robust and easy to maintain. She probably would have bought another Lexus but the nearest dealer is about 5 hours away.

1965 aluminum bodied 427 Corba replica, build it yourself, simple carb., no power steering, no paint, no traction control, no windows, manual transmission, no top, no stereo, way too loud, no heater or air conditioning, bugs in your teeth, everyone hears you and looks, change you own oil, plugs, etc. Tesla for everything else. Fun per mile priceless. What ever happened to wrenching your own ride and KISS?

I’ve heard great things about all the Toyota SUV’s especially the 4Runners. A few people I know that drive Tundras both have mixed feelings as far as gas mileage and reliability is not the same compared to the SUV’s.

Last month went to look at a certified used 2022 Toyota 4Runner with 58K miles. Nice vehicle but was priced @ $50K which I thought was high considering age/miles but supposedly that’s normal as they will run for years.

You work at a Porsche dealership? Manthey makes some cool stuff.
Working on the same brand since the early 90’s. Since 2002 at the dealership in Tampa, Florida.

I’m 63 and can’t wait to get out of it. Couple of years and it’s happening if I make it that long.

Hate the EV’s with a passion 😁 There’s a definite decline in almost everything related to the business.

WOW that’s a long run with one brand doesn’t seem to happen as much anymore.

The Porsche technician I use was the top technician at a large Porsche store then moved up to shop foreman. He went out on his own and I followed him to his own shop. He’s great and thriving now…always busy.

Keep a good relationship with him, this breed is dying…
If I’d started working there today I wouldn’t make it longer than a month, just to much greed from corporate and the stealership. I declined a shop foreman position many times because I don’t want to take care of the entitled babies.

The whole apprenticeship in their respective trade groups worked out definitely better in my younger years in Germany.

Don’t get me wrong, they are still building some exceptional vehicles but some bad ones as well.
