WUHAN, CHINA. JAN 22, 2020
As of 10:00 AM today, no one will be allowed to leave the city and that intra-city public transportation services will be temporarily shut down as well. Tally of infection now rests at 17 deaths. Officials are also hinting at severe punitive measures to be taken against lower magistrates if they fail to report or underreport cases of the illness. This can also be the indication of an internal struggle, perhaps even a purge, to take place within the ranks of the Communist Party. In the recent past, prosecutions of "rampant corruption, bribe taking, and embezzlement" had been extremely effective at wiping out entire lower Party ranks of both officials guilty of REAL crimes as well as those who have ran afoul of their benefactors in various ways. Analysis of CCTV and People's Daily coverage of past disasters such as the SARS outbreak of 2003 and the massive Sichuan earthquake of 2008 had shown that these events had also been used for party leadership to tighten the reins around any suspected outliers on the local levels.
ETA: This illness may be more serious than how the public has been informed so far. Beijing officials have listed it as a "Grade A infectious agent", and only a few other pathogens have made that list.
