That one was pure luck.

Appreciate it

Re: Breaking Out The Big Guns

The second photo is a winner; one day take it to a professional photo studio and have it blown up to a poster size.

I did that to a couple of my military photos and they are good conversation pieces.

Re: Breaking Out The Big Guns

We were the last battallion in the Marine Corps to have the M109 SP Howitzer (not A6 Paladin). Years after we got rid of them I watched an artillery demonstration at Ft. Sill and, to say the least, the Paladin is one impressive piece.
I remember how long it took us to lay the battery and get the battery ready to fire. The paladins pulled into position and within a minute were firing with no one exiting the vehicle. Have to say, the Army Artillery is much more adavanced than the Marine Corps.
My old unit is now HIMARS which is like a MLRS on a truck chassis. Lot changed since I was pulling lanyards

Re: Breaking Out The Big Guns

got to see a multiple launch simultaneous hit demo in the nevada desert 4 years ago during a CAPCOM...using some new NLOS(?...non line of sight?) that looked very similar to the paladin.

Every 10-15 seconds the gun thumped another round out at a different angle, and all rounds impacted within a 5-10 second interval. and all within about a 100 foot square. Impressive to say the least. I would NOT want to be on the receiving end. It was more impressive firepower wise than the warthogs rolling in and raining 30mm casings all over the place. (those casings hit the ground with authority too!)

BTW, that second shot is BAD ASS. nice capture!

Re: Breaking Out The Big Guns

Nice Pics for sure man ... As others have said ... that second one is killer

Every time I see a Paladin I grumble AND Smile ... LOVE Indirect Fire Support ...

Hate ... they were parked behind our hooch in Ramadi and we only rolled on R2C at night so slept in the day ... Get off mission and try to sleep ... then every day between 1100 and 1300 the Paladins were always firing counterbattery or something ... got old. One of my guys response ... F*&K it Sarge ... crank your IPOD ... it drowns out the Mortars Incoming AND the Paladins Outgoing ... One of those comments that your only responce is to laugh ...

Just a Nikon D40 with a 55MM F1.8 Prime Lens and holding down the button with lots of prayers. LOL

After about 10 years in an Artillery battery, I could sleep through a fire mission.
