Hi All,

Hope you can help. I have a new 5-20 ultra short. I was shooting tomorrow and bore sighted my rifle. It was very close to the second rev so wanted to reset back to zero.

Being a man I didn’t read the manual as detailed as I should. I know the turrets should of have a “slotted” screw. It didn’t. There was no plug fitted either. Long story short I loosened all three grub screws and the whole turret came off. Shit.

Got it back on, but as a result no clicks, no second rev indicator and no zero stop. It spins freely, but does indeed move the reticle.
I’m assuming it will have to go back frustratingly! But has anyone else done this and is there a DIY fix someone can talk me through. I’m assuming I can’t ruin it anymore so feel inclined to give it a go before I wave it goodbye for a long time!

Absolutely gutted doesn’t come close.

Put the turret back on.

The third screw that you shouldn’t touch should be tightened by hand then backed off a quarter turn.

Reset your zero and don’t touch third screw anymore.

Going back to S&B. I have two friends locally that have done messed with "that" screw that is shaped and the same as the other two screws. The instructions they provide are complete crap for English users.

S&B charges like $100 to get it fixed or something like that. Complete fail in the design IMO. They should put a cap or change the screw head on the magical screw your not supposed to touch but it looks like all the other screws they use in the turret.

GOOD LUCK

Umm, what??

Plain English “loosen the two Allen screws” “don’t fuck with the slotted one.”

This is a simple problem and a simple fix. There should be two little beveled pins or teeth on the inside of the turret. They get rotated 90* when you pull the turret off, you just need to rotate them back. They are what provides the clicks. As you said the turret will still function, just without clicks. As for the second rev indicator, there is a little pin with a horseshoe cavity in it that catches the pin sticking out of the top of the internal drum. The larger horseshoe shaped pin is what pushes the second rev indicator up when it gets rotated around by dialing up. When you pull the turret off this horseshoe deal can get rotated out of wack. You just need to rotate it back around so it will catch the internal pin.

What a hero. Metaphorical beer for this man. So happy that knowledge like this exists on forums like this.

All fixed!

The range will go on!

Just for benefit of others. Some Ultra shorts come with three Allan screws, not slotted or bunged up as advertised. The windage is as it should be with only two Allan screws.

For re-zeroing loosen to two screws at approximately 2mil and 6-7mil.

My instructions are unhelpfully in German but I should of downloaded a new set. My Minox ZP5 requires the loosing of three Allan screws to reset zero hence the over confidence to crack on a loosen all three Allan screws.

Just as stated, make sure the nubbins that stick out are in a 12-6 o’clock position not a 3-9 o’clock position. Use your Alan key to ensure the mechanism in the cap for the pin sits flush.

Did same thing with pm2 dt mtc 5-25. From pictures inside look the same only miniturized. You will get it back together. I'm as far from an engineer as you get and could do it after messing around a bit...
