Budget 338 EDGE Hunting Rifle

I built this to be light enough to pack and handle quickly in brushy type terrain yet still have the range and terminal effect for LR hunting out in the open country for big game.I picked the 338 EDGE as I already load for one and I kinda like the "Poor Mans Lapua",fits right in with the Budget Build Theme.Started with a Lawton 7000 and Rifle Basix trigger,Benchmark 21.75" SS 1:9.3 twist Sendero Contour Barrel,Roedale Brake threaded /w clamp to re-index after suppressor use,Wyatts EBM,Old School HS Stock w/ no palm swell and a 20MOA SS Murphy Precision rail.I am mounting an IOR 3-18X42 SFP on it tonight in Seekins rings.

It comes in at 8lbs4oz as pictured with out the optics,should come in right at 10lbs even.I function fired it today and it kicks like a 30-06 sporter weight,balance is better than I thought it would be with the barrel contour and the light
stock,should be even better with the scope on.It will be getting Cerakote after Hunting Season is over.

If I go to a larger cal over the 308 it will be the 338 edge. Inexpensive and will shoot a mile. Like you also said cheaper then the 338LM which is a bonus. How much was that total build of that rifle. (estimation would be fine)

Started from scratch,meaning nothing in hand for this,actually came out to $2000 even including the rail.All Riflesmithing included.Gave Benchmark the Go Ahead in Mid July.

Wow that is cheap for the setup you have. I can't wait to find the funds after college to buy one for long distance shooting.

A friend did a Work up on Quick Load I believe.Said with 95.5gr Retumbo in a 20" BBL it shows 2775fps w/ a 300gr SMK.I use H1000 for the 300gr in my other one and it is a little faster powder,I expect to get right around 2600 FPS and with the BC of the 300gr SMK..........
