First off goals..... fun shooting out to 1000yards (may get more serious as time goes on) and some long distant hunting... mainly yotes when I'm not carrying the 22-250 and I hope to be on a mule deer hunt and elk hunt later this year.

    Action: Savage target action repeater

Barrel: choice is still up in the air..... wondering if you can run the 7mm WSM in the large shank target repeater (obviously with changing the bolt head)
if not I'm looking at 7mm-08.

Stock: B&C Metalist OD Green with Black web or Stockade Prarie dog speacial (money saver due to budget)

Base and Rings: EGW HD 20MOA / Burris Xtreme Tactical rings 30mm

Scope: Vortex Viper PST FFP 6-24 MOA/MOA

    Options

Tactical bolt handle SS from tacticalworks
Harris BiPod (already have one ready)
Custom back pack style sling made from 2 butler creek magnums (uncles idea that he uses on his LR-308)

    Questions...

which damn barrel... Shilen, CBI, E.R. Shaw, McGowen, Douglas, or any others??
If I can go to the 7mm WSM has anyone used a seekins brake?

any other help would be greatly appreciated.

I had all this figured out until I just got a time frame and price back from another builder and decided to just do the damn thing myself.

If you have suggestions please give me some sort of reasoning why...

    Thanks!!!!

trying to stay around 1000-1100 without any optics or options just the rifle.

ss meaning stainless steel. The PCR knob is nice but honestly for the cost of a pcr I can build my own. It really helps having a lathe and bridgeport and a few other tools at my dispossal.

on your barrel, take a look at bartlein or rock creek. i own one of each and they are great. im a huge advocate of barrels and optics, this is where i would focus. just my 2 cents

I am doing something similar for my son right now, I got him a LRP action(target repeater), HS stock with factory dbm, and a Vortex 4-16 PST. I am waiting on a 7mm saum CBI barrel to show up. I think this will be a neat deer hunting/600yd f class rifle for him to shoot when big sis is shooting palma. All bolt parts can be purchased from Savage fairly cheap to change the bolt head, firing pin for the wsm/saum. I went with the cbi barrel because two of my buddies have them and they shoot. I will have just about what you want to spend into mine
    400.00 action
    335.00 barrel
    300.00 stock/dbm
