Builder for 223AI?

Who is you preference and barrel length for a 223AI with a 1:8 HV Bartlein

Karl Feldkamp

Those are the 3 that are available to do the work right now. Haven't heard back for many others. Figured they are at SHOT show.


So what barrel length? I want a 20", but don't want to give up the benefits of going ackly improved. So then I started thinking 22" or even 24". This will be a truck gun/range toy.

Accurate Ordnance, and 24 inches.

ETA, you really won't be giving up anything with a 20, either.

I've got a 22" 1:7 (its a Criterion barrel on a Savage)...2890fps with Varget & 80gr A-Max. With RL15 or maybe 8208XBR/2000MR 2950fps is probably possible.

I've always appreciated Karl's meticulous attention to detail, and the fact that he has a loyal following of benchrest shooters.

Since he's a one-man-shop, he's not always accepting new orders. I'd take advantage of your timing.

One thing you should ask yourself, however, is how long you are willing to wait.

I've seen some of Mickey Coleman's more recent work, and I would pass at this time. If you want to wait 2 years, Karl would be a good choice.
