I have just been appointed the class 3 guy at work. i have been around suppressors enough to be able to sell them, and ive got most of the paperwork down. i want to be able to create a template style trust for my customers... does anyone have any experience with this. there is a lawyer locally who builds trusts exclusively for class 3, but he charges quite a bit. so much so that it might scare potential customers away from buying class 3. any advice?

Re: building a trust

I'd say to advise customers about he importance of a solid, state specific trust. If the cost scares them away, then so would price of the can and the stamp.

Re: building a trust

You're not a lawyer, why open yourself to the risk by playing one? I realize providing legal documents isn't exactly being a lawyer, but I wouldn't open that can of potential worms..

Re: building a trust

the lawyer i was referring to charges about the price of a can, so you could easily see how that could deter some folks who arent prepared to break the bank. how much was that software? and does it have to be notarized?

Re: building a trust

Look up Randall Baad in Florida via Google. 250.00 for a NFA revocable trust. You an also send all your customers to him. takes about two days through email and maybe a phone call.

+1 on finding a "good" attorney to send all your clients too. Call them up and see what they charge for a Trust. Then tell them who you are and what you are doing and see what their rock bottom price is for you giving them customers on a regualr basis. Attorneys like to negotiate.
But I would DEF stay away from giving Legal advice on a Trust, or setting up this "template" that you are talking about.
