For guys that use BDC turrets, are they accurate at any magnification or are they most accurate on the highiest power of magnification on scopes?

Also has anyone used BDC turrets on Sightron SII Big sky scopes or SWFA SS scopes, if so how have they worked for you?

Re: Bullet Drop Compensating Turrets (BDC)

BDC turrets are as accurate as the data used to calculate the drop when they are manufactured. There are a lot of variables like altitude, bullet weight, velocity, and ballistic coefficient. etc. etc. You change anything with the data used in the calculation, then the accuracy (bullet drop) changes.

well said i believe you are better with a drop chart and standard turrets especialy if you wish to shoot long ranges with precise hits and at different locations. They will get you close but youa re much better with tacticle turrets i have a Kahles ZF84 on my Steyr SSG and it came with BDC turrets and it is OK but no where as good as everyone of my scopes that has clicks in MOA or mills if shooting at unknown ranges or diferent ranges the closest i can get is withing 50m up close and 25m at the long ranges it is close enough for a hit but that is realy what they are designed for.

If you are going to be dialing in the turrets, how important is a 30mm tube versus 1 inch? I know 30mm allows one more travel is this correct?

Re: Bullet Drop Compensating Turrets (BDC)

Usually a larger tube will give you more distance for the reticle to travel end to end, but then there are some 30mm scopes that have less then some 1" scopes. Magnification is another factor that limits travel, which I don't fully understand my self.
