Rifle Scopes Burris AR-P.E.P.R. QD Scope Mount

Re: Burris AR-P.E.P.R. QD Scope Mount

Don,
The QD isn't a bad way to go if you do alot of swapping.
As long as you put it back in the same spot when you found your zero, it will repaeat within a MOA. If you do not intened to swap your optics significantly then I would use the permanent PEPR mount.

Re: Burris AR-P.E.P.R. QD Scope Mount

Thank you Texas. I'm going to order a Nikon 1-4x20 m223 scope and QD base from SWFA.

I'm planning on swapping that scope with the iron sites. I don't how that will work out, but I'm going to try it.

I just wanted to know if the QD base would work.

Re: Burris AR-P.E.P.R. QD Scope Mount

If you really want a QD I would say Bobro is the way to go. It is the best mount on the market. With the Burris, American Defense, and others is if the pi rail is out of spec you have to manually adjust it to function and hold correctly.
With the Bobro, it's is self adjusting when you lock it down.

I have one of these and it works great. And you can get it with a nifty SWFA logo, too...

Re: Burris AR-P.E.P.R. QD Scope Mount

Thank you TexasWicked I also need some more advice.

My brother ordered a RRA LAR-15 Varmint A4. He wants to put a Nikon 4-16x42 Monarch Scope on it.

On my advice he ordered the RRA Scout Rail Mount.

We're new too shooting in general and this is our 1st AR-15.

What would be the best size rings to order or would it be better to go with a AR mount.

In your opinion. What would be the best mounting set up. For eye relief, cheek weld and access to the charging handle.

Thank you For your time in helping me.

Thanks Sespe and Knightofnee

Re: Burris AR-P.E.P.R. QD Scope Mount

Don,
The thing with rings in my opinion is they are two separate pieces.
With a cantileve mount the optic is house in one mount. Simply easier to operate.
If it were me I would use the Bobro mount, zero it and call it a day.
With rings you have to measure the proper height necessary to be suitable for you.
Cantilever do all of the math for you.
Depending on how far you are planing to operate, you may want to consider JonA's mount with 20 MOA built in. This will allow you to maximum adjustment out of your optics, but you couldn't use it with the Nikon, 1" tube.
It is only available in 30 mm I believe.

Midway sells them. Those knobs are steel, even though they look like plastic.

Is it just that the nuts are big enough to tighten by hand? If so then it's probably "good enough" for a plinker 223 but would probably fall off my AR10...

If he has the RRA extended rail then he can get whatever rings he wants. I would say medium or high depending on what cheekweld he likes.

In the future though stick to 1 piece mounts like the Burris PEPR if you don't want to take it off that much or something like the BOBRO, Larue, ADM if you do want to take it off.

Re: Burris AR-P.E.P.R. QD Scope Mount

I don't think I made it very clear. I'm talking about 2 different rifles. One is my brothers Lar-15 Varmint. The scope will stay on the rifle.

The other is my LAR-15 Entry Operator. I want to mount a Nikon 1-4x20 scope. I want to pull the scope off and shoot it with iron sights.

I want to use it for 3gun, Plinking, and general target shooting.

I'm 59 yrs old so I don't think I'll be a national ranked shooter, but I will have a lot of fun.

I'm sorry for the confusion.

Thank you everyone for your time. I learn a lot.

I have one and it works great, it is a spinning thumb nut follow by a second locking nut, it doesnt go anywhere.

As a matter of fact, I just had it out today and just tested how well it holds zero using the Quick detach.

I removed and reinstalled and it only had about .5 moa Shift at 100 yards. not to shabby for the price at all.
