I have been looking for a decent scope that can focus down to 10 yards and so far I can only find the following two :

Bushnell 3-12x44 Elite Tactical
SWFA SS 3-15x42 Tactical

Both seem to have good review and I wonder if anyone can give some more comments on the ability to hold zero ? will be nice to know also how they compare in terms of optical quality.

Thanks.

Both are good quality scopes and should do what you want. I have most experience with SWFA, which has great turrets, optics and accurate tracking. Solid scope with good customer. I've heard good things about Bushnell, too. Just make sure you get matching reticle and turrets (mil/mil or MOA/MOA). I'm sure others will soon chime in.

I've owned both. The Bushnell has better glass, illume and I like the G2 reticle more than the milquad.

The SWFA has 15x, 6M parallax which is nice for offhand practice in the shop when mounted on the airgun and around 30 mils of travel.

100% agreed with Steve since I've also owned both.

SWFA has more elevation travel, a wider mag range, and a more forgiving eyebox (the Bushnell gets kind of tight at 11-12x)-- but the Bushnell has better glass and a much better reticle (G2DMR.)

Both scopes tracked well and were mechanically sound.

In the end the reticle was the deciding factor and I sold the SWFA and kept the Bushnell.

Another thing, at certain magnifications the little cat-tail on the mag ring of the SWFA can be a really nasty thumb-biter when running the bolt. Unfortunately there are no alternate locations in the mag ring to install it.

I'm currently upgrading the 2 3-12 x 44 G2DMR Bushnells I still have to the new 3-12 x 44 LRHS. The LRHS has a modified G2DMR reticle and offers 7Y parallax but the main reason I'm upgrading is for the 10 mil elevation knob and zero stop. Hopefully the eyebox of the LRHS is a little more forgiving than the regular 3-12 x 44 at 11-12x but that won't be a dealbreaker.

Regarding other good scopes that can focus down to 10Y since that seems to be one of your concerns: S&B 5-25 & almost the entire March lineup offer 10Y parallax. The new Kahles 10-50 will go down to 8Y but based on the reticles offered and overall design of the scope it seems to be tailored towards air rifle field target. I repeat myself by once again wishing optics manufacturers would offer 10Y parallax on all their scopes-- it would only add versatility.
