Re: Bushnell Elite 4200 vs Hawke Tactical 30?

My rig is going to be sporting the Hawke Tactical 20X. I know that the Hawke's hold up to recoil extremely well, and are feature packed. Not to mention, IMHO, with a far superior reticle design...

Can't comment on the Hawke but I have 2 of those Bushnell's and luv them. Super nice glass, well made, track clean and nice turret clicks.Very hard to beat for the money...they will hold up to recoil as 1 was mounted on a 338 Lapua.

Re: Bushnell Elite 4200 vs Hawke Tactical 30?

I'm really interested in the Hawke scopes. Is the glass decent? I need to replace a Bushnell 3200 10x and gotta have better glass. do they track well? As of right now, I'm looking real hard at the Vortex Vipers.

Re: Bushnell Elite 4200 vs Hawke Tactical 30?

Im kinda worried about the lower elevation adjustment on the
Bushnell. I might shoot this rifle up to 2k yards for giggles and need enuff adjustment for that.

I'm a Hawke & Bushnell dealer & am pretty familiar with both lineups. Optically, the Hawke Tac 30 line is on par with the glass used in the Nikon Monarch but won't quite resolve as well as the Elite 4200. You'll get a bright, clear image with the Hawke along with accurate tracking. One of the biggest selling factors for the Hawke (along with price) is the 1/2 mil dot reticle. It has two illumination settings (red/green) and is great for bench shooting. For the money the Hawke is going to be a tough scope to beat but optically isn't superior to the 4200.

Haven't seen a hawke, but I love my bushnell elite 4200 mil/mil ffp. I had the non ffp version before that, both have the same glass and it's great. My vote is for bushnell 4200

What about a SWFA Super Sniper? Lots of travel and they are pretty good scopes.

I have a Super Sniper 10x power on my Savage 308 10fcp-k and love it, but on this 300wm I need a variable for closer shots incase I take it elk hunting, yet I need up to 20x for long range. :\

Re: Bushnell Elite 4200 vs Hawke Tactical 30?

Elite glass is all Japan. Hawke SW Tactical is cool and all, great reticles and features, but the glass is China...you do the math. SWFA SS is also Japan and a Lifetime bs-free warranty.

I know the Nikon Monarch has better glass than my Bushnell 3200 mil dot 10x with the 1" tube & oversize target knobs. The scope actually does what I need, except I can't see my bullets impacting like I can with a Nikon Buckmaster 4-14x.

Correct.

Knobs are the same on all 3 IIRC.

Very good knobs. Very tactile, though not so much sound.

Re: Bushnell Elite 4200 vs Hawke Tactical 30?

I have both of these scopes, and for me the Hawke is the way I would go. I say this because for the money I have not used a scope that does what it does better. I would also give Ceylon a call.

Does the Hawke Tactical have some sort of stop or indicator to show how many revolutions the elevation knob is turned?

Like say for instance, Im out shooting very long range, and I have to turn the elevation knob a few times, but I forget how many times that I have turned the knob. am I up sh_t creek without a paddle? is there anyway possible to have a fast reset reference to say 100 yards?

You won't get a zero stop until you start spending far more than what these scopes cost.

Re: Bushnell Elite 4200 vs Hawke Tactical 30?

Does it have some sort of indicator to let you know where the elevation is currently adjusted to, like the hash marks that my super sniper does?
