I have limited experience with these but thought they were nice for the money. Not sure what less than serious is, but if you are only going to use them a few times per year hunting then they should serve you well.
bward I won't be using them in competition. A few times hunting and casual use. I want better than the crappy old Simmons I had, but can't justify a $1k pair either.
I have looked and the Vortex Viper or Razor looks good, but they would be about twice the price. Are they twice as good?
I don't have any experience with either of the vortex binos, but have read that many like the less expensive vipers better than the razors. I would try to look through each and decide for yourself. There are probably some members in your area that would let you look through theirs.
Jim take at look at Bushnell Fusion LRF Bino's, CKA did a review on them, and when he let me use them I was amazed at the performance of the LRF, 1700 yards in the bright TEXAS sunlight was no problem, and the glass was pretty dam good also, better than my Lieca 1200, and much better LRF, a quick search I found them for less than 700, not bad at all for good bino's with a LRF built in.
