Staying under the $500 budget i really have it narrowed down to a Ares BTR 2.5-15 for 399 or a Bushnell Forge 4.5-27 SFP for 450. I've tried doing research the past 2 days but no one local to me really carries these to actually get my hands on and video reviews are kinda lacking. I feel myself leaning towards the Forge because of the higher magnification and the SFP really doesn't bother me being a new shooter; plus allows me to use the reticle more easily at 8x- power. Just looking for some input from people who have experience with either and has an input on glass and overall quality.

What do you plan on using it for? SFP definitely bothered me when I started shooting competitions. I immediately replaced my SFP scopes with FFP scopes.

No comps; more of a target rifle only out to 600, but i feel the higher magni would be nice trying to get those tight groups. Could also see myself taking some under 100 yd shots with it and thats why i felt the SFP would be better in case i ran it down around the 5x power.

They both have good warranty. They both have 6 to 1 magnification. Glass is really clear on both. The bushnell turrets might be a little better. I would go for the bushnell but that's just me

I liked the Ares and Forge. The Ares glass on that one wasn't too bad on mine. Better than the 5-25 I had.

The Forge glass is good. Locking turrets are nice. I think the Forge is a better scope. I have it on my .22 lr now. My big rifles have MK5.

Either one will be a very good deal.

Thanks for the input.
