Maybe it is just me but I get the feeling it is not. Other than kicking around the idea of a higher mag scope to replace the NF32BR on my F-TR rifle all the scopes I'm seriously looking at are the Bushnell HDMRs. A few months ago I was feeling the need for something like an EBR2, but now everything I'm reading about the HDMR is good, I like the 3-12 elite that I already have, and with the G2, the TreMor2 and the H59 in the HDMR that's a darned good set of choices for a practical comp or "tactical" (really hate that word, we need to come up with something else) application for about 1/2 to 3/5 the $$ unless you get in on one of the buys then its less than half!

I fantasize a little about a USO, and I've got a SS 5-20 on the way but until I get to run it for a while I'm not convinced that I won't trade/sell it for a HDMR.

    Is it just me?

The HDMR lacks a few nice features but makes up for it in other ways like "overall refinement". I feel funny saying that about a Bushnell,LOL but it's true. I'd put it right up there with Nightforce. Not going to mention any names but I had a $2800 retail scope that I was very disappointed with.

I have a Bushnell 3-12x44. Same thing...considering the price it's got a lot to offer. The eyebox is the biggest problem otherwise it's a great scope. I'd take a Vortex PST over it normally but I like the fact that it focuses down to 10Y. It's been on 2 centerfires,1 .22 rifle,1 airpistol and 2 air rifles. Every scope manufacturer should build scopes that have a 10Y parallax!

That's exactly what I did and I ran the SS for a short while

If I am shooting 10yards I will shoot BUIS. If I am that close and need a scope, I must be blind. I would just get my bow out to shoot that close.

I bought one of the new elite tactical 6-24x50 and love it. Can only imagine the quality on the hdmr. I would definately have to say they stepped things up a bit.

Your missing the point Bryce... the point being versatility.

    Here's a few examples.

I've shot in a few practical precision matches that required shots less than 50Y and even as close as 11Y. So since my scope had a 50Y parallax I had to shoot the stage at the lowest power. The problem is the scope was still not focused not to mention the reticle being small because the scope was FFP. If I'm shooting at something the size of a fly at 25Y during a match I want to use higher mag and have the scope focused.

I also shoot Field Target air rifle. We shoot from 10Y to 55Y. We use the focus to determine the range to the target. There is a full 10 clicks between 10Y and 11Y so having a scope with a 10Y parallax is crucial.

Heck generally speaking, hitting anything bigger than a quarter at 10Y is pistol fodder anyways.

Re: Bushnell seems to be stepping up...

Bushnell has really stepped up the game (notice I didn't say "their"). In all honesty, I own 2 HDMR's (I sold a Razor HD with the EBR2 reticle to get one), an Excursion mil dot spotter, and I just picked up the Elite 1600 LRF that I have gotten readings at no shit 1800+ yards on a dry grass/sagebrush hillside. It will pick up a tree on the skyline at 1400y routinely. Vehicles at damn near 2000y (although I have never gotten a reading at 2000y).

The only thing I wish Bushnell would do is send me 2 10x40 mil/mil scopes for my naked AR and naked Savage TR, then I would be a Bushnell Fanboy for sure (hint, hint if they read this-pm me and I will get you my address).

Below are some through the scope pics with my POS Iphone 1 is through the HDMR and the other is the Razor HD. Please excuse the horrible reticle pic (as I said Iphone), but notice the lack of tunnel on the HDMR and the eyebox is huge on the HDMR. I did win a local competition using the HDMR and watching the trace cruise by the right edge of the target, readjusted my hold via the H58 reticle, and proceeded to put the next 4 rounds on steel. I did only nudge out 2nd place by 1 hit.

My only complaint about the HDMR is the 5 mils per rev, but I do hope Bushnell brass lets us current HDMR owners send our units in for the 10 mil knobs, for retrofit if (when) they become avail. I know with the Horus reticles you don't need to dial, but my .260 requires 26mils of elevation at 1 mile, and that is alot of revs for 5mil rev turrets. I have taken the HDMR to 1 mile, dialed back to my 100y zero with perfect return to zero.

Re: Bushnell seems to be stepping up...

I recently got my first hdmr and i have to say i absolutely love it. I have owned damn near everything but a hensoldt and i can honestly say the s&b is the only one i would take over the hdmr.

The glass is fantastic, knobs are great w/locking turrets which i love, feels very robust yet compact.

Overall it is a winner for sure.
