I'm hoping someone can share information regarding the Sheepdog&Shepherd Custom Actions available from CADEX . If not I'm hoping Lowlight will do a expose on them in the near future .
I've visited their web-site and read the information and it all looks really good especially the 50 degree bolt throw .
Is anybody using this action on their Rifle ?
Thanks !

I gave them a call, looks like a pinned recoil lug, and the scope rail interfaces with the action in a way similar to the new Tikkas, with a "recoil lug" built in for the rail to combat shear forces. Multiple bolt face sizes available, but didn't get a definite answer on whether or not spare bolts will be sold separately. Unfortunately, no Remington 700 barrel style threads, 18TPI rather than 16, which is better, but Remage is a no go. Just some info I found after callin'.

Hi guys, the Shepherd 4 lug long actions won't be available until the second quarter however the Sheepdog 4 lug short action is available for order now. If you would like additional information or need help finding a dealer I would be happy to help. Shoot me a message.

Here is a quick review by Truth About Guns

Thanks for the information , I'm looking forward to the Shepherds release for a future build and look forward to anyone sharing their experience with the Sheep Dog in any type of build or factory offering . I'm really interested in the perceived bolt lift for the fifty degree lift . Not a deal breaker if it's a little stiff and if it's even close to the Sauer I used to own it'll be Fantastic !
Thanks again !

Found out something interesting, it's actually an 80% 20% action. So, you cock 80 percent of it upon lifting, and the rest on closing. Patrice says that this is to reduce the effort it takes to lift it, and supposedly it is comparable to a 60 degree lift effort... man... See now I wish I was at SHOT show because i've never felt an action that split the cocking up like that before, let alone a 50 degree action. It sounds like something you really have to try in-person so see if you like it.

If anyone has felt it, or has any input on actions like these, by all means, post! I can't decide between ordering vs. waiting it out to see how others like them... I am not a patient man.

I have a SA RH Sheepdog on order along with a Tan NUKE chassis to put it in. As soon as it arrives I'll be hanging a barrel, installing a trigger and taking it out for a test run. It's a RH action so it will end up going for sale (being LH I don't keep much in the way of RH actions for personal use).

Actually, if you've ever touched a Rem 700 you've touched a 67/33 action.

Most actions are split cock on open, cock on close with a balance between them.

Great! If you ever get a chance to post your findings we'd very much appreciate it! And thanks for the information about the Rem 700 67/33 cocking, I had no idea lol. I thought most all bolt actions were 100/0 haha.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but also wondering what people's thoughts on these actions are. Figured with no answered questions might as well resurrect it

I’m in the same boat, any info on these as well is anyone offering pre-fits for them? I‘m trying to decide between this, a Bighorn Origin with a prefit, or a 24” Tikka CTR all that I would drop in a KRG-B. I would likely keep the barrel on the Tikka until it was shot out unless it was a dud, which is unlikely. The ability to change bolts is very tempting on the Origin.

We do offer pre-fits for the R7 and as well as all our actions. When you would like a new barrel you can email customer service with your serial number and caliber you would like. For install you will just need to pick up a action wrench for the R7 and all standard barrel changing tooling. We do not control our head space using a barrel nut but instead use different thicknesses of recoil lugs. This allows us to make sure your head space is perfect when you install it and not just close like some of the other pre-fits. On the market.

let us know if you have any other questions about the R7. I have been running one for 2 years and love it.

cheers,
Ryan.

Let us know if you have any other questions about the R7

Hello Ryan,

Thanks for the information. I have several questions as I have not yet bought a Origin, although I did pick up a KRG-B on the PX for a Remington SA, so I do plan to go the R700 clone route.

1. Is there a distributor in the US for your products, I’m not finding the actions anywhere?

2. Can a US customer buy straight from you and if so, how much are the actions in Canadian dollars, I can do the math?

3. Are there any companies in the US doing pre-fits for your actions or are you the only source and if so, how hard is it to buy from you being I’m in the US?

Thanks!

Sorry about the late reply, I do not check the hide everyday.
1. We distribute to the US our selves. To find a dealer check out this link. https://www.cadexdefence.com/find-a-dealer/ . Any of these dealers can order you an action.
2. As we sell to the US we keep a US price list, so this pricing is in US funds. $1249.95 MSRP is the price for the action, it come cerakoted on the outside and DLC bolt/action. You have your choose of bolt handle, cerakote color and MOA rail. We do allow our dealers to sell below the MSRP.
3. We are the only people doing prefits for Cadex and they are very easy to get. You only need to send us your serial number. This allows us to chamber the barrel and head space it perfectly to your action between 0.0 and 3 thou. We do this by having different thicknesses of recoil lugs to control the head space instead of a barrel nut or a shot it the dark like many other prefits.

Purchasing from us is very easy as we ship to the US on a weekly bases and have a growing network of dealer.

let us know if you have any other questions.

Ryan
