My 700 in .223 is part of the recall. Rather than sending it off, with the attendant hassle, I'm going to replace the trigger. The question is whether to go with the Timney 510 or the new Calvin Elite. The Elite will go down into the ounces which is of no consequence to me as I prefer my triggers in a 2Lb. plus range. So the question is, adjusted in the 2lb. to 2 1/2lb range, does the Calvin Elite return any benefit over the 510.

I don't personally care for the feel of the Calvin Elite/Jewell style set that heavy. I do like them set LIGHT! For myself, if I was going to run it at 2 - 2.5 lbs, I'd save the money and the skip the possible field condition issues of the fancy triggers and get the 510, or more likely the 517 (straight shoe)...

I've had them both in my 260 match gun over the past year. If I had to pick I would stick with the Calvin. Breaks very clean (mine is set at 1.75lbs). Took a little getting used to the rounded feel of the trigger vs the 510 flat finger pad area but other than that one issue I'm very pleased to have made the switch.

I will admit that I was able to play around with a buddies new Jewell and there is a drastic difference. If I hadn't just bought the Calvin I would likely switch again but I want to finish out the season with my current setup at this point.

I have both Elite and 510. The Elite in my main match rifle and the 510 timney in the 223 trainer. Personally think the 510 will suit your needs well. The Elite I feel is a little more crisp but not going to be that noticable in the 2lb range. Both triggers break well.

Mark has some good prices on the Timney line.
