I saw a machine, a press, used to straighten barrels once. But it was my understanding they were new manufacture with only a slight curve. It was for mauser barrels iirc. I think that one is kaput.
I am sure we would all like to hear the story of how it came to be like that. A truck run over it?

Pssssht, just slap a (-1500)moa base on that thing and roll with it. Might take a couple rounds to find the zero.
Or you could fire around corners with it. Slap a few extra rails on that thing and list it on AR15, it looks tactical enough to sell to me.

Cool, a Non-line of sight M16 barrel? Thats obviously a secret sniper barrel for ultra-long range 5.56 shooting. With the matching gas tube thats gotta be worth a fortune to the mall ninjas.

Wow...now that looks like a major F@$#-up of one variety or another!!

In response to your original question on straightening that barrel...uh...in a word..."NO."

I know it is just for entertainment purposes but that was the most idiotic firearm related "SPECIAL EFFECT" I have ever had the waste of time experience watching...

Im thinking the rifle was ran over by a car or truck

Re: Can a bent barrel be salvaged? pic's

Not THAT bad of a bend! I straightened a friends budget Krag sporter that had a 1" down bend, from loaning the rifle to his brother. The bro missed a deer, and had an anger management problem......Used 2 bullet alloy ingots on a bench, and a 2 lb copper hammer. He said it was within 2" of my boresighting at 50 yds after it was done.

Theres not a thing wrong with that barrel, just straighten it and get someone you dont like to take the first shot.

Re: Can a bent barrel be salvaged? pic's

it can be repaired....not a big deal. cut the bend out by cutting 1/2" on either side of it. square the 2 halves on a hand operated lathe, put a dowel done the center to guarantee alignment and weld them together again.....it is a proven technique, Hesse does it all the time.
