Can I legally sell a scope to someone in Ireland?

Re: Can I legally sell a scope to someone in Ireland?

From Leupold site:
"Mark 4 ER/T Riflescopes

Leupold’s® Mark 4® Extended Range/Tactical M1 Front Focal riflescopes are designed to let you take advantage of the reach and power of today’s long-range hunting and target rifles. At 20x or even 25x, you’ll have the superior clarity needed to positively ID targets, and the generous range of windage and elevation adjustment gives you the accuracy and precision you demand at even the most extreme distances."

Seems as clear as mud....

Leupold's site lists this model as a scope for "today’s long-range hunting and target rifles." hence not a "defense article".

read his qualify last sentence " I ain't no Lawyer " nor am I. But if it quacks like a duck an waddles like a duck, it might just be a duck. Say hello to Bubba for me.

Re: Can I legally sell a scope to someone in Ireland?

You can sell it, but proper forms must be submitted to federal regulatory offices that regulate/ restrict what we can/ cannot ship outside our borders. In short, it is'nt worth it for you or the buyer.

Re: Can I legally sell a scope to someone in Ireland?

Is it worth thinking that your scope might wind up gracing a rifle in Afghanistan and getting one of ours zapped there? Penalties aside, man up and accept a small part of the responsibility for keeping people over there safer.

Match308's got it right. Can you do it legally? Probably yes. Would it be worth it for either you, or the Irish gentleman? Probably not...

No offense meant, but our laws are our laws and, movies aside, Armalites didn't just spring out of the bogs like friggin' mushrooms, now did they?</div></div>

Knock off the bullshit...

We have strict importation laws of Firearms related items here. I.E. you cannot import Night Vision Optics, Gunpowder or Primers or Bulletproof Materials without Permission from the Dept Of Justice

I have bought Daytime Scopes from Opticsplanet before and had them shipped here without an Issue. Midway will also ship here.
Do they have a special kind of Dealers permit to ship out of USA?

I wasn't silly, and I removed my commentary. Rather clumsy, no?

Re: Can I legally sell a scope to someone in Ireland?

As a non-immigrant alien you can't purchase certain scopes/optics from the US and export them without the retailer being in possesion of an export lience from the dept of state. You can always chance your luck but I spoke by phone to a customs agent on this very topic earlier this yr when i wanted to buy a Nightforce 5.5-22x50 that I found in NYC at simply the wrong price. If caught, the scope will be confiscated and you can be subject to prosecution. I think the licence costs $250 a time and there are some with the capacity and willingness to act as go-between (See link).

I haven't had a chance to look fully but I believe KGI is an exporter of Leupold and other optics you can try but not sure if they will deal with individuals.
