Awhile back a friend gave me some loaded rounds supposedly for 7mm rem mag. Cases were old and tarnished and could barely see color difference from brass to bullet.
Obviously I pulled them apart.
First sign of wow no go was that 2 of the 10 rounds were charged with spherical powder that looked smaller than W231 and the other 8 normal cylindrical powder.
Then I brought out the calipers, measured .281 and weight was 154 +/-.1. No idea on where these came from. Any ideas?

Re: can't id bullet

It can be that they make a mold and whatever it comes out, is what they call it. I don't think Hornady, starts out by saying, "let's make a 154 grain bullet".

If two had spherical and the others had extruded, then it could be somebody's handloads? Or, one of them was factory and the other was ....who knows.

I'd toss them as worthless. BB
