Cantilever mount in bolt action

Apologies if this was posted before. We have all seen this image. Why is a cantilever scope mount used in this rifle?
Any advantages? or just advertisement? Wouldn't a non cantilever mount provide a wider more stable mount? Rings as far apart as possible (is no cant required)?

I’m having trouble remembering, but scope and mount were solicited as a package IIRC? Probably for reuse on gassers.

It would have to be a really shitty mount to have any difference in stability.

If you have the space, it doesn't matter. They're typically for gassers since the top rail isn't very long.
