We are trying to find a 2nd car and it blows my damn mind at the bs on this website... 99.99% of the cars are salvaged titles and sold by arabs.....

Where does one go to find a normal freaking car for sale with a clean title ?????????

We found a great car on Craigslist one County away, but that was a few years ago. Anything associated w/ FB I would avoid. Just junk bought at stolen/salvage auction to be flipped.. Carmax is overpriced but I think they have a 10 day return policy (?) You have to check the carfax regardless.

Best one I ever dealt with is in Canton, GA, Cherokee Auto Group. Ask for David Mosley, tell him exactly what you want, and give him 3-5 days.

All I can say is to have a TRUSTED mechanic check it for you. If the seller waffles, just walk away.

My mechanic dressed me down like a boot who looked cross eyed at the DI for not having him check over my last purchase (church member sold it). $7k and we’ve put at least that much into it since. OTH, I knew that a 30yo Bronco would NOT be economical in any way, shape, or form. It was bought for a purpose and is still less than the Jeeps and FJ’s I was looking at.

No, seriously this. You have to broaden your searches though. Otherwise it'll take forever. Find a rig that is acceptable in looks, mileage, etc. and on top of that it needs to have some fairly decent pics and a description that seems like someone gave a shit. I do find it alarming that even with that there are still a few fucktards to weed out here and there, but for the most part it's the way to go.

I finally broke down and started a FB account because all of the marketplace hype I kept seeing. FB marketplace is hot steaming garbage. I've found I can sell stuff on there, but buying anything is a lesson in futility. Fucktards abound.

Where I live, 80% of the stuff for sale is in a certain town. One of the ones you don't go to if you can possibly avoid it.

Try autotempest.com. It's a search aggregator and around here all the small used car dealers list on there. Good for finding specific make/model/year.

Autotrader has private sales now along with dealer ads. CPO can be a good buy but sometimes hard to locate the exact vehicle you’re searching for.

It's your area. I have to search for a scam here. If you're near a large population center it's frustrating digging through the garbage.

Either get good at using the search and filtering, or go down to the used car lot where at least they'll give you coffee while they screw you.

Ask friends and family… lots of times you find “grandmas goi g to a home and we have to sell her car” or “we’re downsizing and moving south and don’t need 4wd any more” or similar.

One of my guys at the shop just bought a fantastic low mileage 10 year old Acura suv from my accountant’s 80yo mother for peanuts. She has to go to memory care. Accountant doesn’t have time to deal with huge house and stuff.

I got my Accord “wal Mart warrior” the same way… buddie’s GF quit VT and did t want to keep her car. Car was a steal!

All word of mouth. Ask around. Craig’s list and FB are just scam central.
