If I take once fired brass and trim it to 1.76, and then full length size it , it will turn out to be 1.766. I can't trim it after i size it because the neck opening is reduced, and it won't fit on the Forster trimmer. So do I trim to 1.754 to allow for stretching during full length sizing? sry I bet this is a noob question.

Re: case length .223

First question is what you are shooting this from a bolt gun or gas? I always trim my brass for my AR-15 to 1.750. If you are using a bolt or gas the little bit of length you have will still most likely work.

Re: case length .223

As long as they are consistent and under max case length you are OK.

I'd be checking the size of the pilot in the Forster as well as my expander button dimensions. Something is not right if you cannot get the sized case over the Forster pilot.

THIS ...... something isnt right, I would think that you have the wrong pilot on the trimmer.

Re: case length .223

First you full length resize, THEN you trim.

If you can't get the pilot into the case neck after resizing, something is wrong with your die. If you are using bushing dies, what bushing size are you using? What brass is this? Finally, if you have an expander ball on the resizing die, please measure it and post it here. If you do not have an expander ball and you do not have a bushing die, stop reloading.

Re: case length .223

My trimmer is not "precision" so I trim/ chamfer-debur first then neck/ fl size. If I don’t, I will put run out into the cases post sizing... Just what I do.
I also bought once fired 223 brass that was sized so small my trimmer pilot would not fit as well. Had to resize- trim-resize. Pain in the arse!
