I have a lyman manual case trimmer now and it works good for all my needs till now. It doesnt seem to lock in my 338 lapua case well and is hard to center it with base to mouth. Im not getting square cuts either witch to me is a very bad thing when looking for accuracy. I think that it is just not big enough for the 338 lapua case, at least the locking end for the base of case. Does anyone have good recomendation for a good case trimmer that will hold bigger cases well and cut true, square case mouths?

Re: Case trimmer?

I just ran into the same issue today with some 348 winchester cases. difficult to get them into it, and not totally sure the cuts are square with the rim. I'll be curious to see what others recommend for a good quality trimmer for low volume reloads (i.e. not a dillon 1200).

If you want to handcrank a Wilson is the bomb, but I still recommend a Giraud, it simply makes the task of reloading enjoyable, trim n chamfer in\out every 5 seconds.

Re: Case trimmer?

I was pretty disappointed in my Lyman trimmer. It wouldn't hold the size, the adjustment just wouldn't stay in place and the cutter dulled after about 1000 cases. I stepped up to the Forster and the 3 way cutting head and never even looked at the Lyman again.

Yep. Anything else is just masturbation. I know they're costly. Put aside money when you can and get one once you can. They are totally worth the money.

Plus, they have great resale value. You can sell them for damn near what you've got in them in 10 minutes here on the hide.
