I've had both eyes done now, under twilight anesthesia due to a grave heart condition. You won't be away from the range for that long, but you will need to do exactly what the ophthalmic surgeon tells you to do in his post-surgical instructions. Generally speaking, other than wearing an eye guard for a day or two, you'll be given certain eye drops, which need to be applied on schedule and in the correct dosage and order, and you need to avoid lifting anything heavier than about five pounds for a specified number of days to avoid muscular strain. The procedure itself is typically a half-day, in-and-out event. Your ophthalmologist will explain the nature of the transplanted lenses, which he will choose based upon the relative amount of UV protection and correction that he deems fit in your case.
