I went into get my eyes checked yesterday because my glasses were really doing me no good any more. The doc took one look into my eyes and said they were full of cataracts and I was going to need surgery. I'm just wondering how many of you on here have gone threw this and how long am I going to be down and out from the range?

I've had both eyes done now, under twilight anesthesia due to a grave heart condition. You won't be away from the range for that long, but you will need to do exactly what the ophthalmic surgeon tells you to do in his post-surgical instructions. Generally speaking, other than wearing an eye guard for a day or two, you'll be given certain eye drops, which need to be applied on schedule and in the correct dosage and order, and you need to avoid lifting anything heavier than about five pounds for a specified number of days to avoid muscular strain. The procedure itself is typically a half-day, in-and-out event. Your ophthalmologist will explain the nature of the transplanted lenses, which he will choose based upon the relative amount of UV protection and correction that he deems fit in your case. If you have any other questions, PM me.

My Wife had this done within the last year; both eyes, one at a time; literally walk-in/walk-out surgery. Results were remarkable, she not only has clear vision, she no longer needs any correction; and she was so nearsighted she was bordering on being legally blind. Veer-G nailed it. I would not hesitate if I got a similar diagnosis.
