    Vegas Baby!
I have the CED M2 now, but I'm thinking of getting the IR lights for the occasions when the lighting isn't all that good or its getting late in the day. But because I live in Las Vegas, more often than not, I'm shooting with bright sunlight. Will the visible light and the IR light getting into the sensor potentially confuse the readings as the bullet passes over?

What I'm thinking is getting the IR lights and then completely covering the top and sides of the frames with something like brown wrapping paper to create a triangular "tunnel" for the bullet to pass through. Anyone ever try this with the IR lights? I'm thinking this will eliminate visible light leaking into the sensors and giving bad readings. Am I on the right track here or overthinking it?

If you are in Vegas, where it's sunny for about 364 days out of the year, why would you want the IR reflector and sensors? I am in AZ and we have somewhat similar weather. I have used my CED M2 in poorer light conditions, and it seems to be working just fine. Why complicate things more than it needs to be? Just saying...

Yep, well aware of that. I think what I was getting at is the sensors are still the same ones that work on sunlight or IR and if the sensors are still seeing bright sunlight, would that conflict with the IR light as its seeing both together?

    .
I was going to suggest a chrono coffin build but you beat me to it.

Re: CED M2 w/ IR lights question

I have the CED M2 with the IR kit and bright sunlight (especially if the sun is directly overhead) while using the IR kit will cause error readings. As far as trying to filter out the sunlight, it may work as I have not tried it.

The only time I use the IR kit is on cloudy days, early morning and evenings. Other than that, if it bright and sunny, you do not need the IR kit.

Lastly, if getting the IR kit, get the optional battery pack as well or you will be looking for an AC outlet.

Correct. The IR screens in bright sunlight can/will cause errors. It's not designed to be used in sunlight.
When the sun starts to go down, I'll put up the IR screens. I've shot in total darkness with the IR screens with a lit target at 300 yards, and it pick up every shot. I would also get the battery pack.

Well that explains a lot. I got the IR screens hoping to get more consistent results and hoping to get close results to the Oehler. That didn't happen. It reads a good 50-70 fps slower than the Oehler regardless of light conditions.
Reaper, If I could do it over again I wouldn't have bought the IR screens. However since you often shoot when it's getting dark you may want them, so I can make you a sweet deal on mine if you like. Let me know bro.

+1 on what ChadTRG42 says. You will get errors and no reading if you use the IR screens in bright sunlight. I learned this hard way as usual. I even called the vendor and talked with an engineer and he said the same, you can't use IR in bright direct sunlight.
