Gunsmithing Cerakote "over" another finish???

I have a Benelli Super Black Eagle II in their "dipped" camo pattern. I'm tired of the camo, can Cerakote be applied over the "dip"?

Sure...but I wouldn't do it. If you're going to go OVER the dip, you might as well just use spray paint.

Blast the film off and apply your Cerekote. Get that old shit off first.

It will flake off with the dipped finish. The dip is a plastic so it may also melt when you bake the cerakote. Blast then bake for sure. Z

Definitely blast it off, that factory camo finish is pretty soft and the Cerakote won't properly adhere to it. Cerakote on blasted metal is a very durable finish.
