I've only sprayed one Cerakote camo job so I'm still pretty unfamiliar with many aspects of this stuff. One of the guys I did an 870 for is asking if I can do camo over the coyote base that's already been baked. Can this be done or am I starting from scratch and blasting?

Re: Cerakote over Cerakote?

From scratch. Cerakote's lubricity won't let it stick to itself after curing.

You can flash cure between coats for 20 min @ 250F but after a full cure you are not going to get what you are looking for in durability.

That's from NIC, you could always try it and let us know if it works though....

This stuff is like iron, sounds like a do-over. I'm just wondering how much of a bastard this stuff is to blast. I think I'm going to list the gun on here for sale. Anyone lookin for a new 870 in coyote?

I did a bake on Cerakote in urban digital with stencils. It came out pretty good for my first go at it. I gave it a quick bake to set up the Cerakote then applied the next color. I haven't tried the air cure yet but I'll be ordering some this week.

Re: Cerakote over Cerakote?

"Official" answer from NIC Industries... They advised that their product will stick to a fully cured layer of Cerakote however it won't be as durable as if sprayed over a flash cured layer. I sold the shotgun for my bro and will be starting over on a new one for him. He's hooked on the digital, pics will be posted when it's completed.
