I am going to do some cerekoting on my rifle here pretty soon. I was wondering if I would be ok to cerekote the bolt minus the lugs. My bolt is silver and I would like it to not be silver

Re: cerekoting the bolt a few questions.

Some custom actions have pretty tight bolt to bolt body clearance. Personally, I'd just cerakote the part of the bolt that shows and leave the rest alone. That accomplishes your goal and leaves everything functioning exactly as it was.

It will depend on the action and the tolerance that you have. Most "tactical" style actions have enough room to accept the cerakote with out any issues. One of the keys is to not over apply the cerakote on the bolt and avoid excessive build up issue.
I personally have been doing ionbond on my bolts and cerakoting the handle in the color of my choice and leave the bolt body black ionbond.
