Charging handle scratch?

I was just breaking down my AR to do some cleaning when I noticed a couple things. First I noticed one of my gas rings had broke so I will have to replace that. Then when I was wiping down my charging handle it looks darn near like brushed aluminum on one side.

I always keep a decent amount of oil on it, I'm wondering wtf happened to cause so much wear on one side?

It's a palmetto assembled upper in 223 with standard milspec parts nothing fancy.

Up until the gas ring breaking its ran pretty great.

Any idea what would cause the wear on the CH? Am I doing something wrong with not enough oil or something ? This upper has maybe 800 rounds on it

That's pretty normal for someone yanking on it with their left hand. It's nothing to worry about.

PSA charging handle or a good one? I'm sure the psa is 6065 alum and maybe not as tough anodized.

The only time a CH is in motion is when the operator racks the bolt.

I use a very thin coat of grease on the outer top and sides of my CH's; it's the only place on the AR where I use it.

My lube for the rest of the innards is (again, light coating) Lucas Extreme Duty Gun Oil.

All of them get the anodizing wore off, eventually. I've a bcm latch that has 15k rds through upper that it's on. It's got a narrow place that is raw aluminum.
