Chassis System Or Glass Bed?

I currently have 2 new production Savage Rifles (300 Win Mag + 308 Winchester) (both have Accustock) that I want to both have first round hit capability at +1000 Yards.
I've heard that Glass bedding a rifle can improve accuracy a lot. At the same time I hear manufacturers say that a chassis system improves accuracy as well.
I dont mind doing the work for glass bedding or spending the money for something like a GRS Chassis system. what would give the best improvement of accuracy?

I personally like chassis better, you can get them to fit you a bit easier but other will improve accuracy. Now first round hits at 1000+ is more the software behind the rifle then the hardware but good hardware does help.

I would have to agree with you Awag1000. I prefer stocks and glass bedding over chassis systems. Chassis systems are slowly starting to grow on me, but still can't bring myself to purchase one over a traditional stock setup. From my limited experience, i don't know if there would be a significant difference in the two as far as first shot accuracy, or accuracy in general, more of the quality of the product itself.

Take a look at a krg Bravo. Traditional style, fully adjustable. More rigid than the accustock especially from a bipod. Also has ability to add rails/Arca mounts in future. Also uses AI mags

This stock looks perfect, but sadly they don't seem to have an option for Savage short and long actions.

Devcon is pretty awesome to do bedding with, unfortunate savages kind of have a slightly limited option. I have a HS Precision on one of my savages with out glass bedding and it’s a solid .5 to .75”

Magpul makes one for savages that is similar for a decent price. I’ve never owned one tho.

I’ve owned several krg and they are nice. But didn’t realize they don’t support the savage platform. I’m surprised they don’t honestly. I think for the price of the chassis it would really catch on with savage owners.

Have you tried to torque tune the Accu-Stock yet?
Below is my creedmoor in the accustock at 300yds. Cold bore is high left. My rifle shot lights out with the front screw @ 35in/lb and the rear at 30 in/lb. That rifle was consistently under .5moa mark shooting 147's @ 2830-2855 with R 26 I started at 2855 then when it seem to speed up I found it shot better with the bullet seated .012 deeper and .3 grains less powder. Cold bore was out when clean or dirty though.
All that being said I would get a chassis with the 3.85 cip cut for the 300 and whatever suits you best for the 308. The ESS from MDT would work. The lss xl or something from XLR if you want lighter for the 308. The magazine upgrade is worth the price of admission with the savage.

My 300 WM Savage 110 shoots excellent in the MDT ESS chassis. One of my favorite chassis I own. It did shoot just as well in the HS Precision stock that came on it tho. Those may be an option and can be picked up relatively cheap as take offs
