Just acquired a m200 Cheytac marked rifle manufactured receiver from Becker Machine & Tool Serial # 92. Just curious on what kind of background lead to them manufacturing the rifle. And just any general background anyone on here would have to provide... if the Becker machine made guns were high quality ect ect. Any new information will be good to know!

thanks guys!

Becker was the contractor Cheytac used to produce their receivers after Cheytac broke off business ties with EDM arms(not sure about the drama).

That’s good to know. I called cheytac yesterday and talked with one of their crew trying to get the low down on the rifle ( no luck as of today). I really with there was more info on the gun online so I could get a clue of when it was made.

I thought there was a connection to the original company that started in Arco, Idaho? I thought it started there. I don't know much. Check out a few Youtube videos, maybe some info there?

What info are you looking for?

Ideally, what year the falling out with EDM took place. It’ll help me piece when this rig was made. And anything else positive or negative about the Becker machine produced rifles. Like is the barrel manufacturer still Lawton ect... there are guys on here that know the lowdown on these platforms. But anything is welcomed. Simple google search isn’t providing much.

Lawton hasn't been in business for a long time. Once the old man died they went full speed ahead into the dirt.

I know a lot about the story of cheytac and lawton... yet I'm not getting into it. You shouldn't either. That rifle you got, likely won't shoot well, and you won't really be able to do anything about it. Some of us have been all the way down the road you're just starting down. All you'll find at the end is disappointment and a lighter wallet.

The 375CT cartridge is quite good. We chamber custom barrels in that cartridge for HTI's frequently. However, when it comes to anything else "cheytac" you are best served to run away. Don't walk... run.

Okay just went and shot the rifle today. There were some small bugs I can see that need to be fixed. Bushed firing pin hole will be first priority.. but the rifle shot absolutely stellar at 100,300, and 600. I’ll shoot it next week out to 1500 and past 2k. But next week I’ll see how repeatable the gun is as far as POI shifts go. But at 100 yards with Peterson brass, 130 grns of retumbo and a 420 grn rcky mtn ALBT it shot a 5 shot group that could be completely covered by a nickel. At 300 yards it shot a three shot group that was right at 1 inch maybe a cunt hair under.

Bolt face on bolt was WAY dirtier after its 50 shots today then when I received it yesterday. So rifle appears to have been shot more today than it ever has.

The ammo I made was in my opinion “mild” but showed signs of cratering from the oversized FP hole. MV from a magneto v3 was 2772 average... also the cases showed very mild ejector marks, but absolutely no primer flattening ( headspace, difference of CT’s reamer to Peterson’s brass created the ejection marks, haven’t measured difference yet. )

BUT, as of right now... I can see how far I can push the primer cups till they pierce and try and get the 2950ish MV I think I can get from the gun. (Barrel might need to speed up as well)

BOTTOM LINE, the gun shot just as good on paper today as some of the finest rifles I’ve ever shot. It was a pleasure to shoot as well. Maybe I hit the lottery with this gun and it’s performance, or maybe it’s the beginning of a long road as mentioned above. After reading the comments above I was expecting a 4 moa gun and was ecstatic to its performance.

Link dosen't work for me for some reason.

I've heard both good and bad, spoke to them and a dealer when I was on the hunt and dropping some serious coin on a rig. The person that answered at Cheytac was real cool to talk to and generous with his time and answering my questions and did say that the movie "Shooter" really put them in the spotlight. The dealer also talked good about them, I ended up with a differant rig that better suited my needs and range access.

nice looking rig. What scope you have on top? Is that a 375CT or 408?

Not sure if this thread is still alive, but Some misinformation floating around about these. The original m200’s were first produced by edm arms in Redlands CA in a small amount before they were produced by Becker machine and tool in Princeton MN for cheytac. Production began in 2001. Cheytac and edm went their separate ways near the tail end of 2004. They were then produced in arco Idaho by cheytac.
