I have a DPMS 308 and need to buy a scope for my NV clip on however I'm worried about the front sight on my 308 getting into the way of my NV clip on view. Do I need to mill the front sight off? Is this going to be a problem? It also appears I'll need to get a smaller scope 10" tactical vs a scope that is 13" because of the short hand guard rail? Again .. just worried this front sight is going to interfere with my sight through the NV clip on ..... my clip on is about 6-7" and will fit right in front of the sight.

This would be a great replacement handguard giving you plenty of room and a sweert handguard to boot.

You could just take off the top of the FSB and the new rail would cover it but a simple low profile gas block would be a bit cleaner appearance wise. Then just pop on a handguard height flip up front sight and you're in business.

BTW, that handguard also comes with the barrel nut and wrench. If you know someone who has the wrench I believe he will take $40 off the price. There may even be a kind sould here who would lend you one.

I would rather carry the extra 6oz and have something tried and true but that's just me.

Too bad SWS doesn't make their 10.3" compatible with DPMS as you could use a 12"
scope with the clip on no problem and save a few ounces.

I was trying to keep the short hand guard and gas black. Thought milling off the sight might be a quick fix if I needed to get rid of it however I can see going to a different hand guard might be a better choice.

Although I don't understand the mechanics of it all, I put my 1.8-8x26 35mm scope on and the clip on night vision in front of that! You cannot see the front sight post through the scope or night vision clip on.

Shurt, to answer your question directly about the front site post. It will not be an issue, you will not see it with a clip-on device.

Due to the magnification, the optic with see through the FSP. Same as any day optic such as a ACOG on a M4 with a FSP. A NV clip-on introduced with any magnified optic will not cause any difference. Hope this helps.
