clip slotting utility?

Does clip slotting have any utility purpose for those that mount optics?
If you use a badger ordnance base that slips into the slot, is there some durability to be gained?

Dont worry about it unless you are building a clone of something.

A quality base with an integrated recoil lug is all you need.

What is an example of a good scope base with integrated recoil lug?

I'm new to the 700 platform, so bear with me.

Seekins and Badger both have recoil lugs. Seekins 20 MOA base is my choice.
