Comments on my rifle build

Hey y'all,

Just as the title says I would like y'alls comments, both positive and (non dickhead) negative comments, on my rifle build. I'm fairly new to the LRSsport but ive been shooting for a long time. Here is the setup,

Rifle: Savage model 11/111 7mm
scope:Viper 6.5-20x44 PA

I'll use a Harris bipod too. This is just a basic set up for me to get started on. I will also use this rifle for hunting. I plan on getting the extras ( trigger, barrel, etc) further down the road. I just want to get started and have a building block. Thanks!

I never really was fond of Savage. I always seen them as not something I would want to own. But then my cousin got into them and now has a couple and really likes them. I reciently shot his 260AI that was completely redone with a Bartelin (I think) barrel, Manners thumbhole stock (bedded by Manners), action trued, trigger set to 12oz. and now I really have a new appreatiation for them. I was shooting 3/8" groups at 100yrds with no problem. To the point that I might just have to get one. So with that I think you did good and have a good start.

I will go out on a limb here and say most guys here shoot a Remington 700 or variant of that platform. There are so many options and accessories that are available for that system it's almost a no-brainer. But to each his own, if Savage is what floats your boat then hop on in.

I got into Savage a while back, and have yet to regret my decision. I have owned numerous rifles, from numerous manufacturers, and now ONLY own Savage.

I tied a .1" 3-shot group for the Smack-The-Smiley Competition here on the Hide with my Savage 10FPLE .308Win. I had less money tied up in my ENTIRE setup with the Savage, than I did in just my FN-SPRA1 rifle alone, and the Savage ran circles around it... Laughing!!

Yes, there is some of the aftermarket stuff that will bug you... IF you let it. However, the support is there, and Savage makes a great rifle that you can work with easily enough. The time and effort spent is up to you.

My dime, my time, and my shooting go only to Savage... I absolutely love mine!! I am working up loads for my new V/T .243Win, and it is showing outstanding signs of being an awesome shooter!!

When you say build what do you mean , did you get work done by a smith on the rifle ?
