I'm in the planning stanges of a new bolt gun for competition. Its going to be a Remmy or clone in 6 Creedmoor w/22" barrel. I cant decide whether to use an AX or Manners. My others have had T4A's.

Does any one know first hand what a Remington action with a Rem. Var. contour barrel in a AX weighs? and what length of barrel is this based off of.

Also why do you seldom see an AX stock at matches (at least the ones I've went to)? Is it the weight or egronomics of the stock.

Help me out so I dont dump a wad in something I shouldnt have.

I'm hoping to keep the rig at 13.5LB with scope and bipod.

I think the 13.5lb mark might be tough to hit with an AICS. As IIRC, the chassis weighs in the 5lb +/- neighborhood. And I'm kinda' doubting that the AX is much lighter, if at all.
Here's a link to a compilation of the various chassis systems out there which another Hide member was kind enough to put together. Though there are a couple of other, similar ones as well.
    New consolidated chassis list.
It has a fair bit of information, as well as links to most of the companies shown. Definitely worth a look.

My comp rig is right at 14lbs. Manners t2 standard fill, rem 700, cdi dbm, seekin rings, hdmr glass. 26" sendero barrel. It is about the perfect weight for a comp gun. If you want to use a chassis system and stay light and one that is good for comps then I suggest a Rock Solid chassis. I will probably switch to one soon. They are being used all over the comps here in Texas by some of the best shooters. Just my 2 cents.

I'm sure I could get you close to your goal if not right on par... I have a rifle very similar to what you have described... buts its 1.5 lbs lighter.
